SPIRIT WEST COAST TAKES TOP CHRISTIAN MUSIC and COMEDY TO THE HIGH SEAS

Spirit West Coast’s two festivals are the largest and only multiple-day Christian music festivals in the Southwestern United States. The festivals rank as two of the premier Christian music festivals in the country, drawing fans from many states.  Now, Spirit West Coast is taking top Christian music and comedy to the high seas on Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas, February 11 – 18, 2007 on a seven-day Mexican Riviera cruise.

Spirit West Coast features concerts by many of the top artists in the ever-growing genre of Christian music and the Spirit Cruise will feature favorite Christian music artists, presenting concerts exclusively for the “Spirit Cruise ’07” cruisers.
Music artists onboard include Joy Williams, Bethany Dillon, Tree 63 lead singer/songwriter/guitarist John Ellis and Shawn McDonald. Christian comedians on the floating fiesta will be Bob Smiley, Ron McGehee, Kerri Pomarolli and emcee host Mike Williams.  “It’s important to take the right artist on trips like this,” explains Robberson. “Artists who do great concerts in small, intimate settings and who are personable. Since we are taking Christian comedians, I guess we should call the trip a Christian music and comedy cruise.”

Beyond the music, the cruise will include Christian comedians, opportunities to meet the artists, devotions and activities for all ages.  Plus, exciting ports of call including Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.

Each port features different attractions and possibilities. Cabo San Lucas is known for its water sports, golf, fishing and recreation action. Mazatlan features shopping, shopping and... shopping. Puerto Vallarta is a sight-seeing adventure. The list of experiences available at these ports is extensive—hiking, dune buggies, horseback riding, whale watching, snorkeling, jeep safari explorations—and more. For those who just want to relax on the beach, the white sand is waiting for you.

Although there are already large Christian music cruises, there are no seven-day cruises leaving out of Southern California. Cruise operations manager Dave Martinez explains, “There’s a real interest in a seven-day cruise from the West Coast. It’s a lot of trouble and expense to leave out of Florida, so our cruise will be very convenient for the SWC fan constituency, mostly from the West Coast. Many people will drive or fly in from cities like Sacramento, Las Vegas, Reno, Phoenix and San Jose, and the flights are inexpensive. Plus, a seven-day cruise is an entirely different experience than a three-day mini-cruise, which is what’s primarily being promoted by other organizations.”

“We know there is a huge interest in Christian music group cruises,” reports Spirit West Coast Director and Producer Jon Robberson, “and with our ministry’s Christian music event planning and organizational experience, hosting a music cruise is a natural. Celebration Concerts has promoted several fabulous cruises through the years, so a ‘Spirit West Coast at sea’ type experience will be a floating fiesta.”
